The comeback of Nokia in 2017 will witness Nokia in partnership with HMD Global – while the smartphones will have the Nokia brand name, they will be exclusively be produced by HMD Global. This 10-year partnership will see HMD having the exclusive license to produce new Android mobile phones and tablets. All devices will be based using the Android OS.
This phoenix-like comeback by Nokia in the mobile phone industry that it once dominated, has set waves of excitement amongst the brand’s old-time users. Loyalists can expect top-of-the-line features such as Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820, wide display screens (5.2” and 5.5”), and waterproof metal body shell. Keeping in mind the brand’s loyalty base, the new smartphones will feature Carl Zeiss camera optics as per older Nokia models.
Below are some of the smartphones which will be released next year in phases:
1. Nokia D1C
One of the first models tipped to be released early next year; the Nokia D1C is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 430 processor combined with Adreno 505 GPU. One variant may come with 2GB of RAM, a 5-inch full HD resolution, and a 13MP rear camera. The other variant will offer 3GB RAM, 5.5-inch display, and a 16MP rear camera. Both variants will be equipped with an 8-megapixel fixed focus front camera. As far as storage is concerned, Nokia D1C will be packed with 16GB of internal storage (expandable).
2. Nokia C9
The Nokia C9 is expected to feature a metal frame body and 5-inch full HD IPS display with 1920×1080 pixels. It will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 820 processor and a 4GB RAM. Also, it is expected to sport a 21MP rear camera, ensuring the highest quality of video recordings and photos. The front will be supported with an 8MP camera. In the storage department, this smartphone will be packed with 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB of internal storage options.
3. Nokia E1
Rumoured to be a budget device, the Nokia E1 Android smartphone will be powered by a 2.3GHz Intel 64-bit Atom processor. It will be equipped with a 4.95-inch fully laminated IPS screen display, with 1920×1080 pixels. According to certain sources, also on offer are 2GB of RAM and 32GB of inbuilt storage space. With a 20MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera, one can expect high-quality videos and images.
Gaming enthusiasts can rejoice. This budget smartphone will be packed with a PowerVR G6420 graphics, making your gaming experience a lot more fun!
