What has been improved in Lumia Windows 8 with Amber update?
With GDR2 (Amber), Windows Phone 8 can now automatically free up space in the device’s internal storage by removing temporary, hidden files. Users with Nokia Lumia handsets don’t need to wait: Those devices include a more proactive utility for fixing this issue.
The software update delivers a wide range of new and improved features and apps, like Nokia Glance Screen with the standby clock and an even better imaging experience that mirrors the one found on the 1020. Users will be graced with a new FM radio player and improvements to Xbox music and the Internet Explorer browser, as well as improved image processing and the Nokia Smart Camera app (which debuted on the Lumia 925).
Voicemail. In GDR2, Microsoft has added support for additional audio codecs so messages sent as WAV files play correctly.
Group messaging. You can enable this feature in Settings, Applications, and Messaging. Now group messaging is also possible
Internet Explorer. Microsoft’s mobile browser has been updated to improve media playback, among other things.
Improved Camera in Lumia Devices through Amber
Amber update brings improved image processing, noise reduction, color reproduction, exposure control, autofocus and better performance in low-light, according to Nokia.
Take a sequence of photos with Nokia Smart Camera, and then choose which story you want to tell. Choose your best shot, capture a sequence of motion, put the motion in focus, remove unwanted moving objects or select the best expressions to make great group shots. Download the Nokia Smart Camera app from the Nokia Collection – you’ll find it in the Store on your phone.
