Following the launch of Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Samsung has released Samsung Galaxy Grand 2, the successor to one of the popular phones of 2013, the Galaxy Grand.
The most apparent changes in Galaxy Grand 2 as compared to the Galaxy Grand are the larger screen size, more RAM and bigger battery. Considering the price tag that comes along with the phone, Samsung has limited the upgrades to the above.
Comparing it with the 5” Galaxy Grand, the Galaxy Grand 2 has an 5.25-inch HD screen screen with 720 x 1280 pixel resolution. From 1GB RAM of Grand it has been topped up to 1.5GB and the processors have been upgraded from a 1.2GHz dual core to a 1.2GHz quad core one. The other difference is that of the thickness i,e Grand 2 is thinner by less than 1mm.
The phone comes with 8GB internal storage, expandable up to 64GB with microSD card support and 1.5GB RAM. It sports an 8MP camera with LED flash and sports a 1.9MP camera in front ,capable of shooting and recording in HD mode. Grand 2 uses a similar backcover as the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 which is made of faux leather. The rest of the body is made of plastic.
Grand 2 just like its predecessor comes with Dual SIM support. The phone is available in white, black and pink colours. It is powered by a 2,600mAh battery which the company claims can give 17 hours of talk time.
“This new Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 delivers an improved HD viewing experience, more powerful multi-tasking features, a premium experience through design and entertainment on the go,” Samsung India Country Head, Mobile and IT, Vineet Taneja said.
To provide a more intuitive user experience, the Galaxy Grand 2 comes equipped with several smart features that continue to set the Galaxy series apart from other smartphone devices on the market, including enhanced camera features like Best Face, Best Photo and Continuous Shot, as well as:
Story Album: Organize pictures by timeline, and create and print albums all from your device
S Translator: A translation service that provides instantaneous translations at any time
S Travel: Provides guides and travel information for your next trip
Sound & Shot: Record up to nine seconds of audio with your photos
Samsung Hub: Unique content service that provides access to music, videos, games and more
Group Play: To listen to music, share documents or play games together
Samsung Link: Connects your devices so you can access photos, music, videos and documents from multiple locations.
The Grand 2 will also feature the grand opening of the Club Samsung – a new service which lets you stream (or purchase) localized content – music, movies, web clips live TV, etc. Currently, only movies and music is available, but others should be ready soon by the time the phone hits retail.
The Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 specs justify its position as the successor to the Grand. It is definitely a better bargain than most phones in the same price bracket. The Galaxy Grand 2 is available @ themobilestore.in for ₹ 22500. For more detailed description click here.
