The iOS 7
Hailed by many as “The mobile OS from a whole new perspective”, Apple’s iOS 7, the next mobile OS offering from Apple is slated to be available for download on the 18th September. As stated by Apple, what makes the iOS 7 all the more special is that downloading it is almost like getting yourself a new device.
The iOS 7 is compatible with and will support devices like the iPhone 4 and later on, the iPad 2, iPad Mini, and the iPod Touch fifth generation.
There aren’t many changes that Apple has made to the iOS 7 except for one little change which is that Apple’s apps on iOS 7 now support the 64-bit system for the new iPhone 5s.
Let us quickly take a look at some of the key features o f the iOS 7 that set it apart from the previous versions of the iOS.
Notification Centre: The Notification Centre in the iOS 7 is still on top but it’s a lot less heavy than in the previous versions of the iOS. The notification centre is well equipped to give you details about new mail, missed calls etc. The latest addition though is a new feature called “Today” which is like a “To Do” list in itself and will give you a summary of everything you plan to do and have lined up for the day. The best part is that users can also access the Notification Center from the Lock screen and any other screen.
Control Panel: the iOS 7 now includes a control panel at the bottom and users can simply slide upwards to access the various settings. You can turn the “Airplane” mode ON or OFF, and adjust the Do Not Disturb, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and volume settings etc from the control panel and it also provides you with access to the flashlight, timer, calculator, and camera and you can also access the control panel from the Lock screen.
Photo app: Fed up of an unorganised and messed up photos??? The iOS 7 will now store photos according to the time and place where they were clicked. Photos will systematically be stored in albums. You can tap on the year and all your photos taken that year will fill your screen.
AirDrop: The “AirDrop” will enable users to share videos, email, photos, etc with their friends on iOS. It’s as simple as this, all you need to do is click on the Share button on any app that supports “AirDrop”, tap to share, select the person you want to share it with and it’s done. “AirDrop” uses Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. All transfers are encrypted ensuring total safety and security of the content you share.
Siri: Siri in iOS 7 has a new voice, a new interface, and sound wave at the bottom.
Find My iPhone: The new feature ensures that if your phone is stolen and somebody tries to turn off “Find My iPhone”, It’s impossible to turn it off unless they know your Apple ID and password. The same will also be required while reactivating the phone.
Multitasking: If there’s an app that you’re always hooked onto, iOS 7 will make note of that and ensure that it updates in the background. So if you normally check your favourite social app at 10:00 am every morning, your feed will be up and ready for you.
Camera: The Camera now comes with superb inbuilt new features and enables you to shoot and edit photos at the same time.
Everyone is waiting with bated breaths for September 18th, Are you?
